Polgipuki

A Commitment to Environmental Protection

Project by 8 Youngsters from THIE incubator

Project Description

Polgipuki embarked on a vital mission to address a pressing social issue that weighed heavily on society – environmental protection, driven by the ever-urgent need to combat climate change.

The project’s name, “Polgipuki,” was more than just a title; it embodied their unwavering dedication. In the Hungarian language, it resonated as “citizen’s gesture,” underlining their commitment to empowering individuals to make a difference.

With a crystal-clear vision in mind, Polgipuki aimed to orchestrate a series of compelling local action programs under the Polgipuki banner. These programs were designed not just to inform but to ignite passion and instill a sense of responsibility for environmental conservation among a wide range of target groups within their region. The chosen mediums, creativity and art, were carefully selected to engage the hearts and minds of their audience.

Zoo Activity:
In an inspiring partnership with the Pécs Zoo, Polgipuki stepped into the extraordinary world of World Chimpanzee Day, hand in hand with the Jane Goodall Institute. Together, they curated a multifaceted experience, offering something for children and adults alike.

  • “Give Me Your Paw!” was a heartwarming activity that invited participants to create palm prints dipped in vibrant paint, a gesture that transcended mere artwork. It symbolized a personal commitment to nature conservation, a pledge written in color.
  • “The Chattering Grove” emerged as an intellectual haven, a platform for thoughtful discussions on plant and animal protection. It was a place for the exchange of books, where knowledge flowed freely, and for captivating storytelling with the aid of charming finger puppets.
  • “The Creative Corner” was a realm of boundless expression. Here, creativity knew no bounds, with activities that ranged from drawing animals with chalk to intricate coloring endeavors. The corner also hosted a nature protection quiz, encouraging participants to test their ecological knowledge.

Stickers for awareness: Polgipuki went even further; they took to the streets, designing, producing, and sharing stickers adorned with thought-provoking messages about environmental conservation. These stickers were not passive; they were strategically placed throughout the town, ensuring that their vital message reached as many people as possible.

Polgipuki’s efforts bore remarkable fruit. Through vibrant and enjoyable programs, they were able to focus the lens on environmental protection for different age groups. Their initiatives not only informed but created connections, forging a stronger bond between the community and the natural world. This, in turn, ensured a more comprehensive understanding of the intricate web of environmental challenges.

Polgipuki’s reach extended beyond their immediate activities. The Zoos and young families focus was drawn to the thematics, and the stickers are still placed around the city. These stickers encouraged broader community engagement and support for their cause. Moreover, Polgipuki’s active participation in significant events such as World Chimpanzee Day, the Diversity Festival, and the I.D.E.A. Conference facilitated knowledge sharing, amplifying the visibility of their environmental protection initiatives. Every step, every gesture, was a step closer to creating a lasting impact, one that rippled through the hearts and minds of the community.
